Art and Literature

"Art helps us see man representing an age - portraying the agonies and moral issues
of his society or quietly reflecting on the beauty of both man and nature. The Renaissance
fresco, "Expulsion from the Garden," interprets man's passage from innocence to experience.

Art stands, with literature, as evidence of man's quest to understand his own nature, his role
among his peers, his place in the universe, and his ability to cope with reality. Therefore, life
experiences communicated through both art and literature can help us assess our own values,
achieve perspective about our own lives, and recognize the enduring concerns of all ages."
