A writer - scratch that - a good writer will make us feel something. He will evoke imagery and emotions with the use of the various literary elements. When Hemingway said, "Write hard and clear about what hurts," he was referring to the raw, untapped emotions one tends to bury deep inside; the same ones that each and every one of us at one time has felt or will feel. Literature brings to light certain universal truths that resonate within all of us and can be experienced through different means.
